Deep tissue massage. What it is and how it helps

Deep tissue massage isn’t a “firmer“ version of a spa massage. While it does involve a deeper pressure, it’s a therapeutic approach, designed to address areas where muscles fibres and fascia stick together – so called “knots”. These can limit movement, reduce blood circulation and the area of the body feels particularly stiff, sore, achy. In those cases, I may use hands free techniques, such as using the forearm and elbow to apply broad, deep, and sustained pressure to help release deeper layers of muscles and fascia. Not all muscles will be treated the same way, some parts may require focused work, while others respond better to gentle techniques.
Deep tissue massage is especially helpful for postural issues, chronic muscle tightness, achiness. After the massage its normal to feel, like you had a good workout, and this means your body is responding and healing.
